El Paso Electric is a regional electric utility providing generation, transmission and distribution service to approximately 421,000 retail and wholesale customers in a 10,000 square mile area of the Rio Grande valley in west Texas and southern New Mexico. They recently did end their use of coal and have set a renewable goal in New Mexico but have only made some small investments in solar in Texas. El Paso Electric no longer produces electricity from coal power plants, and recently, has increased investments in solar, including community solar.
